The New Zealand Productivity Commission lists a number of factors affecting the attainment of productivity in different countries. Its website explains that productivity is a key factor in the progression of societies, and New Zealand has begun to lag behind other similar countries in productivity and performance. One of the factors affecting business and organisational productivity is the effective governance and management of organisations – whether government, businesses, community, or others.
